Religion and Worldviews at Damers First School
At Damers First School, our Religion and Worldviews curriculum enables children to explore beliefs, values and ways of understanding the world in a reflective, inclusive and engaging way.

Our Curriculum Approach
As of September 2026, we follow the Kapow Primary Religion & Worldviews scheme of work, a progressive and research‑informed curriculum used in many schools across the UK. It provides high‑quality lesson plans, teacher subject knowledge, pupil videos and resources from Reception to Year 4.
What Children Learn
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
Children explore themes such as special people, special places, celebrations, stories and the natural world, helping them understand similarities and differences between themselves and others.
Key Stage 1
Pupils investigate concepts such as Beliefs, Practices, Wisdom & Morality, and Belonging, exploring questions like:
-
How did the world begin?
-
Why should we care for others?
-
What do some people believe God looks like?
These units build foundational understanding through stories, artefacts, festivals and enquiry‑based learning.
Key Stage 2
The Kapow scheme continues to deepen pupils’ understanding of worldviews locally, nationally and globally, helping them make connections, revisit big questions and develop their own informed perspectives.
