School Based Nursery Proposal

Damers First School – PROPOSAL TO OPEN A NURSERY FOR 2-4 YEAR OLDS

The purpose of this consultation is to ensure transparency and openness on the contents of a proposal and allow parents, carers and other interested stakeholders to make a representation that will be considered as part of the determination of the proposal.

Proposal

The school is exploring opening a nursery, accommodating children aged 2 to 4. The school’s lower age limit is 4 years old; however, this would be amended to 2 years old upon the nursery’s opening.

The main benefits of this proposal are:

 1. Opening a nursery within the school gives children a gentle and familiar start to their school journey, helping them settle quickly and confidently into the learning environment they’ll grow with over the years. It also allows families to build strong relationships with staff and the wider school community from the very beginning.

 2. Having a nursery on-site makes life easier for families, offering a trusted, consistent setting for siblings and reducing the need to move between different providers. It also means children benefit from early support and a smooth transition into reception and beyond, giving them the best possible start.

Your feedback is important to us, and we welcome your views on the proposed changes. Please click on the link below to complete our survey.
